MEDO-PERSIA under Cyrus, Darius, Xerxes. Two arms = Medes + Persians. Issued decree to rebuild Jerusalem.
GREECE under Alexander the Great. Antiochus IV desecrated the Temple (167 BC) β AntiChrist foreshadow.
ROME β "strong as iron... breaks in pieces" (Dan 2:40). Destroyed the Second Temple in 70 AD.

GOD'S KINGDOM β "A stone cut out without hands" strikes the feet, destroys the statue, fills the earth.

β WHY "TIMES OF THE GENTILES"?
Jesus used this phrase in Luke 21:24: "Jerusalem shall be trodden down of the Gentiles, UNTIL the times of the Gentiles be fulfilled." Daniel's statue IS that period β Gentile empires dominating Israel from Babylon until Christ returns.
β DECREASING VALUE, INCREASING STRENGTH
Gold β Silver β Bronze β Iron. Each metal is less valuable but harder. Babylon was glorious but small; Rome was brutal but vast. The progression shows moral/spiritual decline alongside military might.
β THE FEET = NOW
The iron mixed with clay represents our current era β nations that cannot unite ("shall not cleave"). The UN, EU, NATO β attempts at unity that always fracture. We are living in the feet, watching the toes form.
β THE STONE IS COMING
The stone strikes the feet β not the head or legs. It hits the statue in its FINAL form. Christ returns when the divided kingdom system is fully manifested. That destruction is imminent.
β WHY DID GOD USE A STATUE?
The statue represents MAN'S view of world empires β glorious, impressive, valuable. But in Daniel 7, God shows the SAME kingdoms as wild beasts devouring each other. Man sees glory; God sees brutality. The statue is Nebuchadnezzar's dream β the beast vision is Daniel's.
β WHAT IS THE "STONE CUT WITHOUT HANDS"?
The stone is Christ's Kingdom β established without human effort or politics. "Without hands" means supernatural origin. Unlike every human empire that rose by war and conquest, God's Kingdom is established by divine intervention at the Second Coming (Dan 2:44-45).
β WHY DON'T IRON AND CLAY MIX?
"They shall mingle themselves with the seed of men: but they shall not cleave one to another" (Dan 2:43). The final world system attempts unity but CANNOT achieve it. Globalism, treaties, unions β all fracture. Iron (strength) mixed with clay (weakness) creates an unstable foundation.
β WHAT ARE THE TEN TOES?
The ten toes parallel the ten horns of Daniel 7 and Revelation 17 β a final confederation of ten kings/nations that give power to the Antichrist. This ten-nation alliance hasn't fully formed yet but will emerge from the territory of the old Roman Empire.
β HOW DOES DANIEL 2 CONNECT TO DANIEL 7?
Same four kingdoms, different perspectives. Daniel 2 (statue) = man's view of empires as glorious. Daniel 7 (beasts) = God's view as savage predators. Lion = Babylon. Bear = Medo-Persia. Leopard = Greece. Terrifying beast = Rome. Both visions end with God's eternal Kingdom.
β WHEN DOES THE STONE STRIKE?
The stone strikes during the FEET era β not before. Christ returns when the divided kingdom system exists in its final ten-toe form. We're watching the toes develop NOW. The strike is the Second Coming, destroying all Gentile world power simultaneously.
β WHY IS BABYLON THE HEAD OF GOLD?
"Thou art this head of gold" (Dan 2:38). God gave Nebuchadnezzar authority over nations. Babylon was the FIRST Gentile empire to destroy Jerusalem and the Temple (586 BC), beginning the "Times of the Gentiles." Gold = most valuable, absolute monarchy, greatest glory.
β HOW DID BABYLON FALL IN ONE NIGHT?
On October 12, 539 BC, while King Belshazzar feasted (Daniel 5), Persian forces diverted the Euphrates River and entered Babylon through the riverbed under the walls. The city fell without a major battle. That very night, Belshazzar was slain and "Darius the Mede" received the kingdom (Dan 5:30-31). The writing on the wall β "MENE, MENE, TEKEL, UPHARSIN" β was fulfilled within hours.

β WHY TWO ARMS FOR ONE EMPIRE?
The chest has TWO arms because the Medo-Persian Empire was a DUAL monarchy β two distinct peoples ruling as one. The Medes were initially dominant, but the Persians rose to prominence under Cyrus. Daniel 8:3 depicts this as a ram with two horns: "the two horns are the kings of Media and Persia" (Dan 8:20). One horn (Persia) grew higher than the other (Media), matching history exactly.

β HOW DID RIVALS BECOME ONE KINGDOM?
The Medes and Persians were related Iranian peoples who were often rivals. The union came through DYNASTY: Cyrus the Great's grandfather, Astyages, was king of the Medes. Cyrus's father Cambyses I (Persian) married Astyages' daughter Mandane. When Cyrus rebelled against his grandfather in 550 BC and defeated him, he didn't destroy the Medes β he MERGED the two peoples. Median nobles retained high positions, and the empire was always called "Medes and Persians" together (never just Persia in official decrees). This explains why Daniel uses both names and why the chest has two arms feeding into one body.

β HOW DID ONE MAN CONQUER THE KNOWN WORLD?
Alexander the Great conquered from Greece to India in just 13 YEARS (336-323 BC). Daniel saw this 200 years earlier: "a he goat came from the west on the face of the whole earth... the goat had a notable horn" (Dan 8:5). The "notable horn" was Alexander. He defeated Persia at Granicus (334 BC), Issus (333 BC), and Gaugamela (331 BC) β then kept going. By age 32, he ruled the largest empire the world had ever seen. Then he died suddenly in Babylon, and his kingdom was divided among four generals β exactly as Daniel prophesied (Dan 8:8, 21-22).

β PREDICTED 200 YEARS BEFORE IT HAPPENED?
Daniel wrote around 536 BC. Alexander conquered Persia in 331 BC β over 200 years later. Yet Daniel described it precisely: a goat from the WEST (Greece), moving so fast it didn't touch the ground (Alexander's speed), with a prominent horn (Alexander himself), defeating the ram (Persia), then the horn breaking and four horns replacing it (Alexander's four generals dividing the empire). Even secular historians admit this prophecy is so accurate that critics claim Daniel must have been written AFTER the events β but the Dead Sea Scrolls and the Septuagint translation prove Daniel existed before Alexander.

β WHAT HAPPENS AFTER THE STONE STRIKES?
"The stone that smote the image became a great mountain, and filled the whole earth" (Dan 2:35). After destroying Gentile world power, Christ's Kingdom EXPANDS to cover the entire earth. The Millennial Kingdom β 1,000 years of Christ ruling from Jerusalem.
β IS AMERICA IN THIS PROPHECY?
America exists within the "feet" era β the divided kingdoms of iron and clay. As a nation with Roman legal foundations and mixed peoples, it fits the pattern. But America is not a SPECIFIC kingdom in the statue; it's part of the fragmented post-Roman world system.
β IS THE "TIMES OF THE GENTILES" ENDING?
Signs point to YES: Israel reborn (1948), Jerusalem restored (1967), global instability increasing. But the Times of the Gentiles fully ends when Christ returns and Gentile dominion is destroyed. We're in the FINAL PHASE β the feet β but the stone hasn't struck yet.
β WHY ARE 1948 AND 1967 SIGNIFICANT?
1948: Israel reborn after 1,878 years β the "fig tree budding" (Matt 24:32). 1967: Jerusalem under Jewish control after 1,897 years β fulfilling Luke 21:24's "UNTIL." These dates mark the COUNTDOWN phase. The generation that sees these will see Christ return (Matt 24:34).
β WHAT MUST HAPPEN BEFORE CHRIST RETURNS?
The ten toes must form (ten-nation confederacy). The Antichrist must rise from this system. The 7-year Tribulation must occur. The Abomination of Desolation in a rebuilt Temple. THEN the stone strikes. We may be closer than most realize.
β DID ROME REALLY FALL?
The Western Roman Empire "fell" in 476 AD, but Rome's INFLUENCE never died. Roman law, language, religion, and governmental structure persisted through the Holy Roman Empire, European colonialism, and into modern Western civilization. The IRON LEGS represent continuous Gentile dominion over Israel β from Rome's conquest (63 BC) until Israel's rebirth (1948). These dates don't mark the END of the Times of the Gentiles β they mark the FINAL PHASE beginning.

We are not in the head, chest, belly, or legs. We are in the feet.
